Wall System

Concrete Block
Retaining Walls

Gravity wall systems using large-format interlocking concrete blocks. Suited to bulk earthwork applications, commercial developments and sites where speed of construction and load capacity are the primary drivers.

Overview

Mass Gravity Systems

Concrete block retaining walls use the weight of large-format precast blocks to resist lateral earth pressure. There are no footings, no drainage infrastructure and no steel posts — the wall system is dry-stacked, battered, and derives its strength from mass and geometry.

The Icon Walls 1800 series and 900 series blocks are suited to commercial, industrial and civil applications. The large block size means significant height can be gained quickly, making these systems efficient on bulk earthwork projects where conventional sleeper or panel walls would be impractical.

Davnic Excavations installs concrete block walls as part of larger earthwork packages. We have the plant to handle the weight of these blocks and the experience to lay them correctly battered and level.

Block Sizes

1800 series (large format) and 900 series. Stackable to significant height.

Construction

Dry-stacked, gravity system. No footings required. Battered for stability.

Applications

Commercial, industrial, civil earthworks, bulk cut and fill projects.

Equipment

Crane or excavator placement. Davnic has in-house capacity for block handling.

Application

When to Specify Concrete Blocks

Concrete block walls are not a residential solution — they are a commercial and civil grade product. The right application is a bulk earthwork project where you need height, speed and load capacity without the complexity of a structural panel or anchor system.

If your project involves significant retained heights, large surcharge loads, or is part of a civil earthworks package, concrete blocks are worth considering. Contact us to discuss whether the system suits your site.
